Hello! My name is Yunjung Kim, and I am a second year undergraduate student studying bioengineering at the University of Washington. I participated in the Honors Oxford Summer Study Abroad in the summer of 2014 (July 23rd to August 22nd). I wanted to participate in this program because the questions proposed in the description intrigued me. "What is knowledge? What is a University? How have our institutions of learning and higher education come to be organized? How does today’s university reflect its genesis in historical debates among various fields of study and intellectual traditions?" (UW Honors Oxford Website) The independent research portion also interested me since I would like to participate in research (though in a much different field, setting, and method of conduct). The opportunity to conduct a social research was different and presented many difficulties due to its unfamiliar nature to me. However, it allowed me to understand how to form research questions so that they are flexible, open, yet specific and what type of sources to refer to. This blog is a compendium of the assignments before and during the program. The 'Group Research' tab will lead you to an external site with both my partner's, Julio Pineda, and my research project statuses (separate from our research progress). Please feel free to leave comments, feedback, and/or additional thoughts on any of the posts. I hope you enjoy the material!
